Chiropractic’s Role in COVID-19 Pandemic

March 20, 2020 (Raleigh, NC) The NC Chiropractic Association (NCCA) affirms that doctors of

chiropractic are essential healthcare providers, ready to serve their communities both in daily

care and in times of urgent need such as the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Doctors of Chiropractic are primary care physicians and represent an essential and necessary

component of the health care program for patients of all ages and all walks of life in North

Carolina. Timely and consistent access to chiropractic care is essential to the maintenance of the health and well-being of this patient population.

The association encourages jurisdictions at all levels to utilize chiropractic as an essential

healthcare resource, especially during a pandemic when chiropractors can keep

non-contaminated pain patients out of high-risk physician offices and hospitals. This assists

these facilities to focus on those affected by COVID-19 and decreases overcrowding and

contamination. “The North Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners believes in the value of Doctors of Chiropractic being available to the public in this time of crisis,” said Dr. Kevin Sharp, President of the North Carolina Board of Chiropractic Examiners. “Whether it’s caring for their patients in acute distress or helping take the burden of non infected musculoskeletal patients out of the Primary Care offices and Emergency rooms, Doctors of Chiropractic are uniquely positioned to provide that service in their communities.”For information on your nearest chiropractor, visit ncchiro.org.
